In a bid to fill the vacuum in high-level education in visual arts in India, Udaan brings its flagship one-year photography courses in photojournalism and commercial photography, to all those opting to take photography as their career. Powered by a vastly experienced faculty of professional photographers and latest start-of -the art-teaching methodology, the courses will provide a combination of sound understanding of the fundamentals and theory, individualistic creative thinking and regular practicals in actual working environment, that will prepare the students for the real ever-changing professional world. Learning from the basics to shooting in complex and difficult situations, being adept with latest technolgies to handling people and making professionals decisions, the courses cover a vast area of the craft, that makes them one of the most comprehensive learning programmes available in the country...
The entire course is a comprehensive package of eight week-ends (16 classes) and several outdoor sessions, of intensive learning and hands-on training. Its a journey of picking up the camera to confidently taking steps into the world of professional photography within two months. However, each student may have his or her priority and keeping this in mind, we have also broken-up the course into three phases - basic, advanced and specialization (in photojournalism and commercial photography) - to make it even more flexible. Udaan allows student to customize and make their own courses and one can enroll for even a single day class or for combination of classes or for an entire package, that can easily be chosen by the students from the detailed courses and enrollment facility available in this website. Students can also opt for morning or evening batches, as per their convenience...
Udaan will be holding exclusive medium-term courses, ranging from one to six months. Apart from the exclusive, independent courses, Udaan from time to time will open certain classes from the regular long courses as seperate modules (based one single subject) to even external students. Whenever we announce a medium-term course or a module, we will be posting it in our website. Empowerment International has been working in Nicaragua since 2004 and has reached an annual school retention rate of over 94% in both of our communities since 2008. As of 2013, we now have over 320 students participating in our program.
We offer a series of community-based, holistic educational programs to children and their families in two extremely impoverished communities in Nicaragua. This is done through daily home visits where parents are encouraged to send their kids to school and are mentored on how to enhance their children’s education. Also during these visits, counseling and emotional support are provided to help them find solutions to barriers, physical or otherwise, that prevent children from attending school.

EI provides mandatory uniforms, shoes, backpacks and supplies, tuition (secondary school), transportation for rural high school students, medical care, parenting programs (how to be more effective and supportive parents), enrichment activities, and counseling both individually and in groups. Since 2009 EI has achieved a program (and school) retention rate of over 92% within the program participants from the two communities we work. As of 2011 over 80% of all school age children are now in school in EI’s first community, up from 55% in 2003!

STUDIO OCTOPUS - CURSUSSEN EN WORKSHOPS
Studio Octopus organiseert een aantal doordachte en heldere cursussen voor alle fotografieliefhebbers die hun vakmanschap in snel tempo willen verbeteren. De grondige aanpak, systematische opbouw van de cursussen en persoonlijke aandacht van de cursusleider zorgen ervoor dat de kwaliteit van je fotografie met flinke sprongen vooruit gaat. Ontdek hoe je het maximum uit je camera kunt halen, ongeacht of het over een compacte- of DSLR-camera gaat. Leer diverse creatieve technieken waardoor je in elke situatie boeiende foto’s kunt maken. Ook na afloop van een cursus blijven de deelnemers welkom met vragen. Die kun je dan per e-mail stellen.
De cursussen worden gehouden in de Studio Octopus in Den Haag. Koffie, thee en fris worden je door de studio aangeboden. In het geval van groepsboekingen zijn ook andere locaties, data of tijdstippen mogelijk.
Meer dan 200 cursisten komen jaarlijks naar Studio Octopus om te leren fotograferen. Naast particulieren staan op onze cliëntenlijst ook diverse bedrijven en cliënten zoals Provincie Zuid-Holland, Nationaal Archief, Haagse Hogeschool, een Nederlandse ambassadeur, The Hague Institute for Global Justice enz.
